Timeline
1926
In 1926 Thomas married Margret who was quite the businesswoman and persuaded him to invest and slowly began to buy motorised vehicles.
1927
In 1927 Thomas and Margret had their first child Alan and later went on to have 2 more boys Derek and Geoffrey.
1947
In 1947 The garage was built on Dill Hall Lane to accommodate the growing fleet of tipper wagons and mechanical diggers used to move waste from the factories and mills which was previously loaded by hand. Thomas’ son Alan started working for the business, carrying out maintenance tasks on the vehicles.
1960
By now Thomas’ other two sons Derek and Geoffrey were also working in the business and introduced skip wagons into the fleet.
1979
The three brothers split the business 3 ways. Geoffrey took the waste business, Derek had coaches which left Alan with the premises at Dill Hall Lane.
1979
Alan asked his eldest son Robin who was training as a Civil engineer if he would help him carry on the general haulage part of the business.
Starting with their first flat wagon in 1979 more vehicles were introduced. Curtain sided vehicles became popular as they didn’t need roping and sheeting which was the method used for Flat bed vehicles.
1985
Robin, his wife Katherine and their 3 children moved into the Bracewell Family house in the grounds of the business and gradually they increased the number of vehicles they operated.
2000
Robins eldest son David became a transport manger to help Robin as the business grew and Alan took a back seat and retired.
2019
Robins Youngest child Katie Joined the business after finishing her degree and completing her apprenticeship within another Bracewell family business.
2020
Robin and Katherine still oversea the overall busines however David manages the Transport side of the business and Katie manages the administration and general business side.
